My short film “Isobel & The Witch Queen” which world premiered exclusively at the 2012 Macworld | iWorld event on Friday January 27th at 7:00PM at Moscone Center West as part of the iPhone Film Festival discussion panel.

Shot entirely on the iPhone 4S using the FiLMiC Pro and iSupr8 apps. Sound recorded using the Zoom H4N.

Edited on a [underpowered] late 2008 Macbook Pro using Final Cut Pro X.

There were so many things I wanted to do with the making of this film, but with no budget (literally a zero budget) or sponsorship, lack of equipment (we built the boom pole from an old painter’s pole, built our own dolly tracks out of track lighting we found in an attic, etc., but we did at least have the Steadicam Smoothee for the iPhone 4S) extreme time constraints, and no way of doing the visual effects that I wanted to (let alone simple editing due to the constant computer crashes) I was left with what you see here… but I hope it shows what can be done with just an iPhone, persistence, and a love of filmmaking… despite the incredibly limited resources!

SYNOPSIS:
Isobel is an 11 year old girl, dealing with the pain of her parent’s break up. She finds herself led into a magical dream realm, where its fantastic inhabitants mirror her earthly plight; pushing her forward on her quest to help her mother. After an encounter with the Witch Queen, Izzy returns eager to support her mother with the knowledge that her mother has had the power all along to start her new life…
